Sorry for the continuing lack of posting
. Father’s day was a bust, so hope everyone else had one even though I’m like a week late. It was a bust because my whole family was mad at each other, and we couldn’t pull it together. I’m very sad that I was being so childish to my parents, cause I know they care about me. But enough about the sappiness, I want to share a short story that my dad told me about how he escaped Vietnam.
Basically, in Vietnam during that post-war period, it was really dangerous to try and leave. If anyone knew you were leaving, authorities would capture you, and the people in the other countries could probably kill you. If that wasn’t enough, the boat rides to the U.S. weren’t safe either, not to mention you needed money to get aboard the boat. Anyways, one day my dad woke up around 8AM and his friend walked by and told him, “We’re leaving, come on.” And my dad just left. He couldn’t bring anything with him, and couldn’t tell anyone.
So apparently, my dad was very influential, and got here safely. The funny part is his dad was like, “Where has Thao been? I haven’t seen him for days! Did he get sick or something?” & his whole family had already realized that he left, so when they told his dad, he got super freaked out/scared. LIKE SERIOUSLY!? Haven’t seen your son for DAYS and don’t suspect a thing ==;;?! Man, I wish my parents were like that! (J/K)
Well anyways, I am very happy that both of my parents left their comfort zone on a crazy trip to here. Sometimes, spoiled kids just need to know what their parents did for them. I know I tell them thanks for raising me and giving me stuff, but next time I’ll be sure to thank them for risking their lives. & I think most first/second generation kids should realize that
.
COMMENTS OFF, cause I don’t want people to tell me that I’m sappy D:
